The New Studio: 5 Things I'm Most Excited About

I just officially just launched my studio space in Sausalito! There are dozens of reasons I’m thrilled to have this space, and I want to share five big things that I’m particularly excited about right now.

1. Community

Not only is the studio a space to gather, create and connect with my clients and community, but I’m also thrilled to be a part of the creative community in Sausalito. This salty gem of a town on the Bay is home to many creatives, artists, designers and entrepreneurs.

2. Ease

While some shoots do require for unique location (think: lifestyle photos in beautiful homes), often we just need a clean slate to create. By having the space I’m able to not only cut the hassle of space rentals for clients, but gear, surfaces, backdrops and supplies are also already in place. My clients can just put products in the mail or show up to a space that is 100% ready to shoot. Instead of circling city blocks for hourly parking spots and schlepping products, we can dive right into the creative process. Free parking and bottomless local coffee don’t hurt, either!

3. Less Industrial, More Comfortable

While big industrial studio spaces with open shelving and all gear in sight are highly functional, I wanted something a bit more cozy, minimal and inspiring to me. I built the space to be functional yet as clutter-free as possible, with sliding door storage for evyerhting, plus a comfortable seating area to settle in for those 10-hour shoot days.

4. Flexibility

From portraits to products, my productions require a variety of set-ups. I designed the studio to be flexible and stocked with everything that’s needed to support it all. Multi-purpose furniture allows the studio area to be converted into seating for up to 12, whether it’s an offsite, community gathering or workshop.

5. Light

Stating the obvious here, but as photographers: we love good light! The studio has a wall of big windows that fill the space with great light, so overhead lights are never needed while collaborating, styling, brainstorming or retouching. On shoot days we have space to accommodate lighting set-ups, plus can block OR utilize natural light, too.

Have a project or idea in mind? I’d love to hear more! Shoot me a note or book a 15-minute call.
